Wisdom’s Laws

December 8th, 2006

Wisdom has been working in convenience stores for 26 years. In that time, he has developed these laws of the convenience store.

Wisdom’s Law #1

The amount of time you have to spend with a customer is inversely proportionate to the amount of money that customer will spend

Wisdom’s Law #2

The customer who spends the least money will always expect to be waited on first.

Wisdom’s Law #3

The later you are, the busier you will be.

Wisdom’s Law #4

Every customer is honest, untill you let them pump without paying first.

Wisdom’s Law #5

The person you are training ALWAYS knows more than you do.

Wisdom’s Law #6

If you make plans for your day off, someone will call in sick.

Wisdom’s Law #7

Employers, employees, coworkers, customers — the ones that you can stand the least will always stay the longest.

Wisdom’s Lay #8

The Third Day Syndrome

On the first day, trainees don’t know anything.
On the second day, trainees think about what they are doing and ask questions when they don’t know.
On the third day, trainees think they know what they are doing, ask no questions, and screw up everything.
